Jolene’s practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, domestic and international arbitration, and related advisory work arising from contentious matters. She advises clients across a broad range of industries, including finance (both traditional and decentralised), software and technology, energy, logistics and healthcare. Her clients include multinational corporations, local enterprises, founders, senior executives, high-net-worth individuals and individuals involved in complex commercial disputes.

She has acted in disputes involving blockchain and cryptocurrency, employment, shareholder and director conflicts, minority oppression and derivative actions, fraud and misrepresentation, and breaches of duty. Jolene also advises on sensitive people-related and regulatory disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination and misuse of confidential information, as well as investigations and enforcement proceedings. She frequently handles matters involving cross-border elements, parallel proceedings and complex evidentiary issues, and works closely with foreign counsel across jurisdictions.

In addition to her disputes practice, Jolene advises on related corporate and regulatory matters, including corporate governance, internal and regulatory investigations, data protection, disciplinary processes and cross-border compliance.

She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an accredited mediator.

Dispute Resolution

Selected Experience:

  • Acting for a co-founder in high-stakes court proceedings involving cross-border cryptocurrency fraud, misrepresentation and conspiracy, and advising on strategy and situational management in connection with a worldwide freezing injunction.
  • Advised the energy arm of a South Korean chemical conglomerate listed on the KRX, issues concerning the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), contract termination and damages arising from non-performance of contractual obligations, in connection with a Singapore-seated SIAC arbitration.
  • Acted as Singapore counsel to a South Korean chemical engineering company in a Singapore-seated SIAC arbitration, working with foreign lead counsel on Singapore law issues arising from competing interpretations of contractual performance and renunciation of obligations.
  • Advised the owner of a global hotel chain on strategic options for setting aside a Singapore arbitral award, including cross-border enforcement considerations.
  • Advised a Dubai company in resisting a stay of Singapore court proceedings in favour of arbitration under competing arbitration regimes governed by Singapore and English law.
  • Acted for a director and minority shareholder of a Singapore healthcare company in a statutory derivative action involving breaches of fiduciary duties and misappropriation, including enforcement and bankruptcy proceedings against the errant director-shareholder.
  • Acted for a Taiwanese senior executive in the defence of multi-jurisdictional claims brought by the Singapore subsidiary of a South Korean multi-national semiconductor corporation listed on the KOSDAQ, involving allegations of fiduciary, contractual and equitable breaches, dishonest assistance, conspiracy and forum non conveniens arising out of employment in Taiwan and Singapore.
  • Acted for a senior executive of a Japanese multi-national investment corporation in court proceedings involving wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment, including coordination with foreign counsel on related proceedings in Japan.
  • Advised and acted for clients in sensitive white-collar and regulatory investigations involving alleged financial, corruption, cybersecurity and securities offences.
  • Advised multi-national corporations and enterprises on internal investigations and contentious disputes involving misuse of confidential information and post-termination obligations, including obtaining injunctions and search orders to preserve evidence and data.

  • Banking & Finance – Loan and security documentation in connection with eight-figure secured loan facilities, including vessel financing and refinancing transactions for a multinational bank.
  • Corporate & Commercial – Shareholders’ agreements, share purchase and subscription agreements, asset purchase agreements, franchise and reseller agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Regulatory & Data Protection – Website terms of use, privacy policies, and contractual frameworks compliant with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Employment – Full suite of employment documentation, including employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, separation agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, and advisory letters (including termination, warning and bonus letters).
